A life in music.
Viola was Mr. Garrett’s first instrument. Today he teaches guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, violin, viola, mandolin, tenor banjo, 5-string banjo and piano. He has started thriving rock band programs, helped students land lead roles in musicals, and guided students to winning awards. He also creates music-learning resources for kids.
How he teaches.
His approach is simple: create a place where students can be themselves, try something new, and keep going when something doesn’t land. Lessons use the music students want to play, with challenges matched to their experience. Along the way, students practice creativity, independence, and critical listening and thinking.
“It’s okay to be wrong!”
Why lessons come to you.
Families have enough places to be. Teaching in the home means no extra commute or waiting room, and students learn in a space where they feel comfortable. Parents stay close by, and siblings can often take lessons back to back.
